Why Fairfield?

We have lived in southwest Durham for the past 5 years and love it! We needed a bigger house and a yard for our growing family! We wanted to stay in the area so we started looking at all the neighborhoods close to our current home. What we loved about Fairfield besides it location is that it is an established neighborhood. It has nice wooded lots, a playground with swings (which are hard to find), a pool with a swim team and it has the opportunity for new home sites. We wanted a bigger house but we wanted exactly what we wanted. Then we found that Garman Homes was building in Fairfield which sealed the deal.

We have less then six weeks till we close and have really enjoyed the experince. John has answered every question we have had about the house. The option of being able to change some things on the plans is also AWESOME! This house will truely be ours and we cant wait to move in! Is June here yet?

What are you Garman people up to?

We choose not to spend money on a fancy model that shows you a bunch of stuff you can't afford...we prefer to build real homes for real people...and as we sell them, we build another one. So we don't have traditional sales models. Sometimes we may go 2-3 months without a finished home to hang out in.

The Kiosk is designed to be sure we can always make our information accessible to you! You can leave us little notes, pick up some information on what we are up to, and always know who is working and where we are that day.

Looking forward to seeing notes from you on the chalk board! Thanks Grace for the chalk! \JG

Why Fairfield? Ask Matt Babaian...

#1 - Location, Location, Location! Less than 10 minutes to RTP, Less than 20 minutes to UNC – Chapel Hill, Less than 5 minutes to Southpoint Mall and shopping, the American Tobacco Trail right around the corner.

#2 - The Fairfield Pool - My wife and I looked for a neighborhood which had a community pool. This was a top criteria. The pool is wonderful, well maintained, and a perfect way to keep in touch with neighbors and the Fairfield community. Speaking of neighbors...

#3 - The Neighbors - Everyone in the neighborhood is so friendly. We have made some amazing friends and we have only lived here for alittle over a year. This is definitely a 'cup of sugar' community. (IOW a place where you can pop next door to borrow some sugar)

#4 - The Fairfield Community - We have a wonderful listserv where neighbors can post about what is going on in the Fairfield community or the Durham Community as a whole. If you need to borrow a tool or if you need anything, you can post to the listserv and people are more than willing to help. And to top it all off our HOA dues actually go to fun events. We have had wine tastings, october beer fests, carnivals, pot lucks at the pool, Mothers/Fathers day events.

#5 - Creekside Elementary - Another major reason we chose Fairfield was that it was in the Creedside Elementary School district. Although we do not have kids yet, we wanted to at least be in a location with a top notch elementary school. There has been alot of talk of new schools coming to the area, so hopefully when junior is ready, there will be many more options in the SW Durham area.

Customizations

At Garman Homes small customizations are no problem, here is a story about this from a Fairfield homeowner.

"I just wanted a simple built-in bookcase for books and nic-nacs. Garman was incredibly communicative during the building process and really worked to make sure that I got what I wanted. I met with the contractor that built the shelves and we literally sketched the design for the shelves right there on the wall so that he knew exactly what the end product should look like. After adding some door hardware (cabinet handles), I had exactly what I had pictured in my head!

Remember, no one can read your mind. Be specific in telling them what you want (spacing between shelves, molding, cabinet door appearance, etc) and you won't be disappointed!"

Why did you build in Faifield?

We love Fairfield! It has everything we were looking for in a community. We wanted to live in an established neighborhood that had recreational options, but we wanted to be able to build our own house, and Fairfield is perfect with the pool, tennis courts, playground, etc. We also liked the lay-out of the community. The trees behind the houses have been preserved throughout the neighborhood, creating a nice wood look. We think its a lot prettier than neighborhoods that clear-cut everything from the front entrance back. Finally, we love the location. We work in Durham and Fairfield is well-situated to get pretty much anywhere in Durham (or Chapel Hill) without too much trouble, but it is also very close to Cary and Raleigh.

We go to the parks, museums, and fun stuff in the Raleigh area all the time, and it's a very easy drive. If we had to do it all over again, we'd definitely pick Fairfield because it has everything we wanted!

Great to Meet You!

Dear Fairfield & Oakhurst Neighbors,

Kristi & I really enjoyed meeting so many of you on Saturday! We were so happy with the warm welcome we received and we really enjoyed talking with you about why you like living here. The Garman Homes Team is lucky to be building where so many people are passionate about their community. Thank you for sharing this with us!

Check back later this week to see all the details about the plans we will be building! We have five great floor plans that we can't wait to share with you. Our first home is moving right along, John expects to start hanging drywall by Nov 5th! Go, John, Go!

And yes, the crazy guy on the right, that's John. He's our General Manager, and he's holding the "Future Home of a Rock Star" sign. We really enjoy what we do. Ask us all about it! \JG
